Explanation
The exciting hike on the ”Via delle Vose”, the old market path of the Onsernone Valley. Red and white linear tour where culture meets wild landscape.
By bus to Loco, where the ”Via delle Vose” starts. The old mule track used to be used by the inhabitants of the valley to import and export various goods from the port in Ascona or the market in Locarno. Before setting off, it is possible to visit the Museum of the Onsernone Valley in Loco. The trail leads to the hamlet of Niva, where terraced vineyards could and still can be seen both in the past and present, and organic wine is produced. Cross the river Isorno and continue to the next hamlet, Vosa. The last climb before descending to Pila. A characteristic village with a wonderful view over the Centovalli and Lake Maggiore. Intragna is home to the highest bell tower (65 m) in Ticino and the Centovalli and Pedemonte Regional Museum. The Centovalli Railway (Locarno-Domodossola) and the Valle Onsernone bus run here.
Attention: The Intragna-Pila-Costa cable car is closed until further notice due to renovation work. Information is available at www.ascona-locarno.com/funivia-intragna or at our Info Desks.
