A route through wilderness that requires good physical preparation due to its length and significant elevation gain. Starting point is Maggia in Vallemaggia. There is already much to discover here, such as the impressive Salto Waterfall. The climb to Rifugio Alpe Masnee begins with a series of stone steps leading to the chapel of Santa Maria della Pioda. Continuing uphill, you enter the fairytale-like Valle del Salto, a long valley at the end of which there is a barrier. Here the real climb begins. Shortly before reaching the first day's destination, you pass the Pianca Pond. At Rifugio Alpe Masnee, you can enjoy complete calm and a splendid alpine landscape. The descent towards Brione Verzasca is long but varied. First towards the mountain lake Starlaresc (habitat of several alpine newts) and the homonymous hut, then towards Piano del Vald and finally the descent into the valley. Brione is an idyllic village worth a stroll.
