From Maggia, descend to the river of the same name and cross the suspension bridge. Immediately afterwards, turn right and follow the road uphill to Pii, where the hiking trail continues above the road. The route leads through chestnut woods and past traditional stone houses, with gentle ups and downs, to Lodano. Continue on tarmac through the village and vineyards to the river.

The hiking trail then follows the river, passing the first footbridge (Giumaglio) and continuing to the second, which leads to Someo. Cross the footbridge and turn right into the woods. Hidden among the trees is a wooden walkway with information panels about the floodplain landscape along the riverbank, as well as a barbecue area with tables and benches.

From Someo, follow the road through the villages of Giumaglio and Coglio to Lodano (only some sections are part of the official hiking trail network). At the beginning of the bridge, turn left onto the hiking trail towards Maggia and continue through the woods, passing the Lanche di Lodano nature reserve. Check the bus timetable for services to and from Maggia. It is also possible to return by bus from Someo.
