Explanation
The red-and-white waymarked path from Piano di Peccia to the Poncione di Braga refuge features very many steps. The ascent starts easily enough, passing through woods and open pastures, but becomes steeper along the cliffs at the Corte di Fondo di Sròdan.
Enthroned on a rocky promontory, the refuge can be seen from far below. The landscape is characterised by vegetation, waterfalls, brooks and high mountains. The summit features wide-ranging views and a terrace – just the place for a rest. The in July and August attended refuge is open all year round (in winter it's a popular destination for touring skiers).
Continue along the path towards Tanèda where the glittering waters of the Lago della Froda appear. The Corte della Froda below is open in summer: Vallemaggia cheese is produced and sold here. Take the gravel road back to Piano di Peccia (make a note of the bus timetable).
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
