Steep slopes characterize the hilly landscape of the municipality of Gambarogno. From the ancient small fishing villages on the lake shore to the most beautiful views in the region.
The charming village of S. Nazzaro is reachable by train. The route moves away from the lake shore to take the white-red-white marked path towards Monti di Vairano. You pass through the chestnut forest towards Sasso di Grumo, where the yoga path begins and the Sass da Grüm hotel is located. It is worth taking a break: Sasso di Grumo is considered a very special energetic place. The path continues to rise up to Monti di Vairano, a large village with typical rustic buildings. The trail here is a bit flatter and, through the beech forest of the Cedullo Valley, you reach Monti di Gerra, another large hamlet with typical stone houses. The descent towards Casenzano is quite steep and covers a large elevation difference in a short time. The crossing towards Gerra is a nice way to conclude the hike. It is worth stopping to contemplate the colorful houses characterizing the village. From here, you can take the bus or train.
