Sonogno, the last village of the Verzasca Valley, is accessible by car or bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno line). This easy walk starts from the sports field/ice rink, where you first have to cross the bridge and then, once on the other bank, follow the Redorta stream along an easy path.
After only a few minutes of walking, you reach the impressive La Froda waterfall, about 100 meters high. Those who have had enough can cross the bridge at Froda and return to Sonogno. Those still eager to explore can continue to Corte and cross the river there.
Return is along a secondary road where cars almost never pass. On the way back you encounter a Grotto where you can refresh yourself. Strolling through the alleys of Sonogno's historic center gives the impression of being in a museum. Typical stone houses, flowered balconies, paved alleys, little shops with local products and restaurants. The museum and the Wool House are also worth a visit.
