The tour starts at Brione Verzasca, which is reachable by car or bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno route). The first 4 km or so to Daghéi follow an asphalted road along the Osura stream, which has lovely pools – perfect for taking a dip. The path to the Capanna Osola (May-October) is very pretty and suitable for families.
It ascends steadily through the larches of the wild Val d'Osura. The stream flowing by the refuge makes this place even more appealing to families. From here the path becomes stony, steep and very challenging.
The Rifugio Sambuco (May-October), your destination for the night, stands in a meadow beneath mighty peaks. This simple self-catering refuge has 16 berths, cooking facilities and a WC. The barren terrain, beautiful nature and silence up here are balm for the soul.
