By bus or car to Spruga. The last village of the Onsernone Valley is a jewel and seems from times gone by. From Spruga, the trail descends and crosses the Isorno River before climbing to Alpe Ruscada. As far as Casón, the path climbs steadily, under the shady beech trees of the 789-hectare Onsernone forest reserve. Below Pizzo di Mezzodì to Alpe Ruscada, where flocks of sheep graze. Continue to Capellone, the highest point of the tour (possibility to climb the Pizzo Ruscada) and along the ridge down to Corte Nuovo (June-October overnight stay possible at the refuge). The panorama of the two valleys Centovalli and Onsernone is fantastic! Time-consuming up and down to Pianasc and in the forest to Monte Comino. On the way there the church Madonna della Segna and the peat can be visited. The guesthouse Alla Capanna offers every comfort for the night, including meals. From Monte Comino, the cable car (runs April-October) descends to the Verdasio railway station.
Attention: The Intragna-Pila-Costa cable car is closed until further notice due to renovation work. Information is available at www.ascona-locarno.com/funivia-intragna or at our Info Desks.
