A journey through history between two lakes.
An ancient route that connects Lake Lugano to Lake Maggiore, the Strada Regina was traveled since the Early Middle Ages by travelers, pilgrims, soldiers, and merchants.
Today it winds through picturesque landscapes, crossing Monte Ceneri and the Vedeggio Valley, along sections of the Via Francisca.
The path touches chestnut woods, villages and historic houses, churches and fortifications, immersing visitors in a setting rich in cultural, archaeological, and naturalistic heritage.
Informative totems accompany the walk, and along the route, thematic detours can also be followed, such as the Via del Ceneri and the Historical Route of Montecenerino.
