A Historic Journey Between Two Lakes.
The Strada Regina is a historic route linking Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore, first trodden in the Early Middle Ages by pilgrims, merchants, soldiers and travellers.
Today, it meanders through captivating scenery, crossing Monte Ceneri and the Vedeggio Valley, at times following the ancient Via Francisca.
Along the way, it passes through chestnut woods, charming villages, historic homes, churches and fortifications, offering a rich tapestry of cultural, archaeological and natural heritage.
Informational totems guide walkers along the path, with themed detours—such as the Ceneri Route and the Historic Montecenerino Trail—offering deeper insight into the region’s rich history.
