Usually one looks north towards Locarno and the impressive mouth of the Maggia and does not realize that one can also enjoy a 360° panorama from the opposite mountains. The real start is at Alpe di Neggia (1395 m), but it is also possible to start from Gerra Gambarogno (213 m).
The best viewpoints are undoubtedly Monte Gambarogno (1669 m), Paión, and Covreto. However, the entire route offers beautiful views of Locarno and surroundings, towards Bellinzona and nearby Italy.
The easiest and least technical section, but very short, is the one between Caviano and Gerra Gambarogno. Although the trail presents no major difficulties, a considerable amount of elevation and distance has to be covered.
