Four days, four valleys. A four-day route through four characteristic and scenic valleys in the Lake Maggiore region.
The route begins in Intragna in the Centovalli. Through the old merchant path, Via delle Vose, you reach Loco in Valle Onsernone. This is the wildest of the four valleys and seems suspended in time. The journey continues through the Passo della Garina, famous for Max Frisch's work "The Man in the Holocene." From here, you descend into the largest valley of Italian-speaking Switzerland, the Vallemaggia. The river giving the valley its name attracts many swimmers in summer. With the climb to Alpe Masnee, a demanding stage awaits. Once the refuge is reached, however, one can enjoy the peace and alpine landscape far from civilization. The last section leads to Valle Verzasca. A long descent passing the beautiful mountain lake Lago Starlaresc and the homonymous hut. Once you reach the valley floor, the eye is captivated by the emerald-colored waters of the Verzasca river. Four valleys so similar yet so unique, each in its own way.
Attention: the Intragna-Pila-Costa cable car is out of service until further notice due to renovation work. Information is available at www.ascona-locarno.com/funivia-intragna or at our information desks.
