The ascent to Odro starts from Vogorno, reachable by car or bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno line). After a few minutes, you pass by the Madonna della Colletta oratory, with its beautiful frescoes. Following the steep path through the forest, you arrive at Odro, which is divided into two parts. The lower part is occupied by the farm stay, where you can stop and even stay overnight (open from May to October). In the upper part, there is a small and simple museum (keys are available at the farm stay) dedicated to wild haymaking, an activity particularly widespread in the Verzasca Valley.
You continue to climb on rocky terrain up to Alpe Bardughè. You reach a vast plateau from which there is a fantastic view of the two lakes, Maggiore and Vogorno. The Bardughè hut (open from May to October) is unattended but offers the possibility to purchase drinks.
The descent back to Vogorno is a zig-zag. In summer it is hot, as there is no shade. Therefore, the ideal period is spring and autumn.
