The tour of 65 kilometres starts in Locarno. The first ten kilometres are great to warm up. From Cavigliano the clim into the Onsernone Valley begins steep right away. The first two kilometers present a gradient of 9%, but over the next ten kilometres the path flattens out and continues on a regular gentle ascent. Only shortly before Loco is there a short but intense stretch to contend with. The lush nature in the Onsernone Valley is unique and the little villages clinging to the slopes are impressive. The road is very winding, 300 turns up to Spruga! After Mosogno and Russo you can even enjoy a short descent, but you have to pedal back up again on the way back. Immediately after the second descent, at Ponte Oscuro, you turn right into the Valle di Vergeletto. After a few hairpin bends you reach Vergeletto, where you can continue through the village for about six kilometres to Casone (4% gradient). There is also a grotto. If you want to extend the tour, you can tackle the climb to Gresso or Spruga.
Average gradient: 3.6 %
