The Procession in Gannariente is a tradition rooted in the rural life of centuries past, when the harvest determined families' futures, when a period of drought or rain could destroy the economy of the valleys and when faith and prayer were part of daily life.
The procession takes place each year on the first Sunday in May, whatever the weather, starting at dawn in Cavergno at 6 a.m. and passing through the entire Bavona Valley. A time for coming together and celebrating the local history once again in the enchanting setting of the Bavona valley, regardless of the dramatic changes it has undergone.
For many, this has become an occasion not to be missed.
