On Saturday, 31 May 2025 at 6:30 PM, the Church of Madonna del Sasso in Orselina will once again transform into a space of musical enchantment. The Associazione MUSICA al CUORE and its artistic director, the internationally renowned cellist Professor Orfeo Mandozzi, invite you to an evening of music filled with sonic diversity, poetry, and unexpected perspectives. From 7:30 PM onwards, guests are warmly invited to enjoy an apéritif on the church’s scenic forecourt.

A special encounter: Duo Canopée At the heart of the evening is the exceptional Duo Canopée, formed by cellist Pauline Ngolo and guitarist Laura Rouy. The two musicians met at the prestigious Conservatorium van Amsterdam and have since delighted audiences with a refined dialogue between cello and guitar – two instruments they present in an equally expressive and captivating way.

With a courageous openness to sonic exploration and a keen sense of musical storytelling, Rouy and Ngolo create rich soundscapes that oscillate between classical music, tango, contemporary compositions, and poetic nocturnes. Their virtuosity has earned multiple accolades: Laura Rouy was awarded 1st Prize at the international “Young Virtuoso Competition”, while Pauline Ngolo is celebrated as a “Prix d’Excellence” laureate for her innovative interpretation and technical brilliance.

From Piazzolla to Duplessy The evening’s programme guides the audience through the seductive rhythms of Astor Piazzolla, experimental contemporary works by composers such as Jérôme Combier, Helena Winkelman, and Atanas Ourkouzounov, as well as the lyrical soundscapes of Mathias Duplessy. Masterpieces by Penderecki, Roland Dyens, and – as a crowning finale – a “Serenade” by Franz Schubert complete the evening.
