Explanation
The tour begins in Fusio, the last village of the Lavizzara. The red-and-white waymarked mountain path leads to Vacarisc, meandering through larch woodland and meadows to the Corte dell'Ovi and Corte Mognola, home to the "cascina della memoria", a little hut that tells the story of this alp with photos, objects and panels.
It's a steep climb to Lake Mognola, surrounded by peaks and shimmering in the light. Larches and some patches of greenery adorn the otherwise rather barren surrounds of the lake. It's a short climb to the Corte della Sassina with its panoramic views of the Lago del Sambuco reservoir.
Follow the irrigation channel along the Acquedotto Canà thematic trail down to the Corte del Sasso, which is open in summer: the stone channels that transport water from the spring to the alp are most impressive Some sections of the route back to Vacarisc are steep, but well maintained: cream cheese is available for sale in Vacarisc. Follow the same path back to the bus stop in Fusio.
