The Isorno River originates in Italy at Pizzo di Madéi and makes its way down the Onsernone Valley into the Centovalli, where it flows into the Melezza. In Ponte Brolla, the gateway to Terre di Pedemonte and Vallemaggia, the Maggia joins, and together they flow into Lake Maggiore. The hike starts in Intragna, known for the highest bell tower in Ticino (65m). The best way to reach Intragna is by the Centovallina (train Locarno-Domodossola). Over the "Ponte dei Cavalli" bridge you cross the Isorno towards Cavigliano. Through a wild landscape, the path follows the Melezza to Tegna. The natural pool is a popular bathing spot. The trail continues to Ponte Brolla, where the Maggia flows through the deep gorge (impressive to see from the old railway bridge) and merges further downstream with the Melezza. Those who wish can return along a beautiful riverside path on the other side through idyllic nature back to Intragna.
