Thanks to the Centovallina (train Locarno-Domodossola), the adventure begins with the journey. By train to Verdasio, then by cable car to Rasa, the only village in Ticino not accessible by car. Upon arrival, you can enjoy a cappuccino at the grotto before heading to the Corona di Pinz. The ascent passes through Monte, where there are some rustic houses, and continues up to the Corona di Pinz. The trail crosses a beautiful beech forest that offers pleasant shade in summer. At the top, a fantastic panorama opens up over Lake Maggiore and the surrounding region. Down to Costa, the descent is quite even, then zigzags down to Carbozzei. Afterwards, you reach the Roman bridge over the Melezza river and continue towards Intragna, where the Centovallina passes. In Intragna, there is the highest bell tower in Ticino (65 m) and the Regional Museum of the Centovalli and Pedemonte.
Information: The Verdasio–Rasa cable car will be closed from 1 January 2026 until spring 2027 due to refurbishment works.
