Ronco s/Ascona-Porano-Non-Ronco s/Ascona

You can park your car in the parking lots in the center of Ronco s/Ascona near the church, the Post Office, or the Infopoint. Parking spaces are limited, so we recommend using public transport and getting off at the “Ronco Sopra Ascona Posta” stop. From there, you need to go up and continue along the road until you reach the municipal cemetery. The cemetery, which is visitable, hosts several notable figures such as Eric Maria Remarque, Paulette Goddard, Ernst Fischer, Kurt Hoffmann, Ursula La Ruelle, Rolf Lenne, Gerhard Maasz, and Richard Seewald. Right after the cemetery, the path begins, which climbs up to Porano via a mule track. This is also where the “path of crosses” starts; along the route, you will find several wooden crosses and some chapels. After about 50 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the hamlet of “Porano”. Here there are several mountain houses and a beautiful meadow with a breathtaking view of Lake Maggiore. Continuing through the forest, the path leads to the road that goes to the Ronco mountains. Walk for some meters on the asphalt and then go down following the sign “Non”. From here a rather steep path will first lead you to the hamlet of Non, and then back to the historic center of Ronco s/Ascona from where you started.
