At Alpe Nimi, savour the views of Lake Maggiore and beyond (refuge open all year round, attended mid-June to mid-September) one more time before setting off on the final leg.

You descend gently to Aiarlo, a picture book collection of rustici backed by panoramic views.

The descent passes Mella, where you can immerse yourself in one of the troughs to cool off. Then on to Malai and finally Gordevio, negotiating woodland and clearings.
