The Via GeoAlpina is developed in collaboration with the Via Alpina, a route crossing all the countries of the Alpine chain from Trieste to Munich. The Via GeoAlpina "Ticino Alps" itinerary winds from Biasca (Leventina Valley) to Cavergno (Vallemaggia), passing through Sonogno (Verzasca Valley). An exciting three-day route along the Lepontine Alps to discover Ticino and the variety of its rocks. The route starts at Personico, reachable by bus from Biasca, then continues through the Gagnone Pass, passes by the Efra Hut, and descends to Frasco in the Verzasca Valley. From here, the post bus departs for Sonogno. The earth mantle of the Gagnone Pass consists of soapstone, formerly used for making washing tubs. On the second day, the route continues into the heart of the picturesque Val Redorta up to the homonymous pass. From there, you can descend to Prato-Sornico passing the Tomeo Hut or through the wild Pertüs Valley. The third day begins with the ascent to the top of the Rima Mountains, at the Fiorasca Bocchetta, where the landscape is characterized by Ruscada Gneiss and limestone rock. The route continues downhill to the Fiorasca Hut until Fontana in the Bavona Valley, from where the post bus departs for Cavergno.
