Explanation
A stunning, sunny panoramic trail in the hills above Locarno. Accessible year-round thanks to its moderate elevation and south-facing orientation, it offers magnificent views over Lake Maggiore.
The starting point is the boat terminal in Locarno (196 m), just a few steps from the train station and Piazza Grande. The ascent begins immediately and steeply toward the Madonna del Sasso, continuing as a technically demanding climb up to Monti della Trinità. After around 3.5 km, the incline remains steady but the trail becomes smoother and more runnable up to the hamlet of Tendrasca (683 m). Beyond the hamlet, the trail steepens again, requiring muscle power almost up to Monte Baffi (876 m). From there, a fast and technical descent leads down to Orselina, completing the loop in Locarno.
