Generali Run The Sun - Ascona Locarno Marathon

From 5 to 7 March 2027, the Generali Run The Sun – Ascona-Locarno Marathon celebrates its inaugural edition. Set against a spectacular backdrop, this new running event marks the start of the running season and brings fresh energy to spring in Ticino. Thanks to its early position in the calendar and its diverse scenery, it stands out from other running events in Switzerland. A new sporting highlight for anyone looking to start the season with a truly special running experience.

  • Ascona-Locarno inspires runners all year round with a wide range of running events. Highlights in autumn 2026 include the Transalpine Run (28 August to 3 September), the Triathlon Locarno (5–6 September), the Ascona-Locarno Run (10–11 October) and the RunThrough Trails Ascona-Locarno (24 October).

From 5 to 7 March 2027, participants can look forward to a varied running weekend featuring a marathon, half marathon, 10 km and 5 km races, walking and Nordic walking events, as well as a Kids Run. Whether you are an ambitious runner, a recreational runner or taking part as a family, there is a race for everyone. As the third event in the Generali Running Tour, the Generali Run The Sun joins the long-established races in Lucerne and Geneva and, as the first marathon of the year, opens the Swiss running calendar.
