A day out with friends, a light backpack and a valley ready to be discovered. The Verzasca Valley is the perfect setting for an adventure: start with an iconic bridge, continue through alpine villages and hidden waterfalls, pause for a genuine lunch and end the day sleeping in a traditional stone house. In between? Turquoise waters, nature all around and countless small discoveries along the way.
The day begins in Lavertezzo, in front of the famous Ponte dei Salti. An essential first stop: a souvenir photo on the stone bridge that spans the river with its incredible turquoise tones.
Then it’s time to head down towards the river. The large rocks, smoothed by time, are the perfect place for a break: some stretch out in the sun, while others watch the clear water flowing between the stones. The sound of the river accompanies the first moments of the day.
The adventure continues as you make your way up the valley towards Sonogno, the last and highest village in the Verzasca Valley. Here the pace slows: stone houses, small squares and alpine meadows create an authentic atmosphere. The village is also home to the Casa della Lana and the Verzasca Valley Museum, which share the story, traditions and everyday life of the valley.
From the village, a short walk of about 20 minutes leads to the Froda Waterfall. The trail crosses meadows and alpine landscapes before reaching this small natural gem, where water cascades powerfully down the mountain in an impressive display.
After the walk, it’s the perfect time to enjoy lunch in a typical valley osteria. Sitting under a grape pergola or outdoors, you can savour dishes from Ticino’s culinary tradition, prepared with seasonal ingredients and regional products. A simple, genuine lunch - ideal for recharging your energy.
The afternoon unfolds between gentle strolls along the river, new views across the alpine landscape and moments of relaxation. The Verzasca Valley invites you to slow down, leaving room for spontaneous stops and small moments of discovery.
When evening arrives, the experience continues at the Rustici della Verzasca. This holiday village is made up of historic Ticinese stone houses that have been carefully restored and adapted for comfortable accommodation.
Today these rustici host 18 holiday apartments, each one unique. They offer a kitchen, bathroom and living area or outdoor spaces, while preserving the authentic character of the original buildings.
Surrounded by woods, silence and a starry sky, the day ends in a simple and very special way: spending the night in the heart of the Verzasca Valley.
