Monti Motti Bike – designed for fun

In the morning, the route climbs 14 kilometres from Gordola up the paved mountain road to the Monti di Motti – the starting point of the adventure. The fresh mountain air and the panorama over Lake Maggiore and the surrounding valleys create the perfect setting for the day. After the ascent, a stop at the Osteria Grotto Monti di Motti (open during the summer months) is well worth it: the scent of polenta, freshly baked cake and other Ticinese specialities, the tranquillity of nature and a small pond invite you to recharge. Those riding an e-MTB can conveniently charge their bike at the charging station and enjoy the break.

The entrance to the trail, shared by bikers and hikers, is located just below the Monti di Motti. The very first metres reveal what makes this shared trail special: a natural flow that winds elegantly through forests, meadows and old terraced landscapes – ideal for finding your rhythm. The route is designed to delight experienced bikers: playful, varied and harmoniously embedded in the surroundings.

After the gentle start, the route becomes increasingly demanding: narrow singletrack sections, stone steps, rock gardens and shaped bends ensure the trail remains technically exciting. Shortly before the halfway point, the picturesque Bazzadee invites you to take a break. This small alpine settlement with its traditional stone houses is not only a perfect photo spot, but also a lovely place to catch your breath.

The entire shared trail was built with great attention to sustainability: the already dead chestnut wood, stones and soil come directly from the region. Roots, branches and natural obstacles were removed only where absolutely necessary – and, whenever possible, reintegrated into the trail elsewhere. You can feel this careful craftsmanship with every metre. Monti Motti Bike is more than a ride. It’s an experience that stays with you.
