The climb to Bosco Gurin is legendary. The Walser village at 1525 m. a. s. l. was the stage finish of the Tour de Suisse in 1997. From Cevio to Lincescio, the road climbs up the hairpin bends and you quickly gain altitude. The first eight kilometres, however, are more of a wam-up for the legs. From km 8 the road begins to descend (8%). In Cerentino you have the choice of doing the steep climb to Bosco Gurin or the slightly gentler but longer one to Cimalmotto. If you have enough puff, you can of course do both. The last two kilometres before Bosco Gurin are the toufhest, with a gradient of over 10%. The pretty village Bosco Gurin is nestled in a beautiful mountain scenery, surrounded by peaks. Back in Cerentino 7.5 kilometres are left to Cimalmotto. From Niva the gradient begins to get more. The steepest section is the last kilometre, between Campo Vallemaggia and Cimalmotto, where the average gradient is about 10.6%.

    Author’s recommendation

Bosco Gurin is located at 1525 m a. s. l., so it is important to check the weather conditions in advance. In addition, appropriate equipment and warm clothing are required for the descent.
