Explanation
Starting at the characteristic village of Cimalmotto, walk a few minutes on an asphalted road to reach the start of this tour. You negotiate a short climb before descending slightly to the Piano della Stufa. You then climb to the Alpe Magnello, an elevation gain of no fewer than 400 metres.
The variety of the scenery helps you forget the stresses and strains, and before you know it you've reached the top. The Alpe Magnello lies at alt. 1808 m. It borders on Italy and is one of the few alps in the Valle di Campo that is still actively farmed. It’s a place of lived traditions: during the summer months, you can watch cheese being made and purchase fresh products.
The return leg takes you across the Ri di Magnello, then down to Fontanella and back to the starting point, Cimalmotto. Make a note of the bus times in advance.
