Russo is a small village located in the heart of the Onsernone Valley and can be reached by car or bus. It features the church of Santa Maria Assunta, one of the oldest in the valley. After some ups and downs through the forest, you reach a beautiful stone path leading to Barione, a small hamlet where the charming oratory of Santa Maria Nascente is located. The clearings offer a lovely view of the small villages clinging to the slopes and the stunning valley below. From Barione, a short descent reconnects with the main road towards Mosogno, where you can take the bus. If you still have some time, it is worth visiting the village of Mosogno di Sotto. This short and easy hike on a mountain trail marked white-red-white is ideal if you want a not too demanding trip or have little time.
