Ascona-Locarno Tourism is part of the Swisstainable Destination sustainability programme, promoted by the Swiss Tourism Federation, which supports Swiss tourist destinations committed to the sustainable development of their territory.
What is Swisstainable Destination?
Swisstainable Destination was launched as the next step in the Swisstainable sustainability programme, allowing tourist destinations to participate at a regional level. Like the original Swisstainable programme, Swisstainable Destination is structured into three levels.
Ascona-Locarno is currently classified at Level I – Committed.
The Swisstainable sustainability programme brings together companies and destinations from across the Swiss tourism sector and enables destinations to commit themselves in a structured way to sustainable development.
As a Swisstainable Destination, Ascona-Locarno adopts a holistic approach to sustainability – environmental, social and economic – and integrates these principles into the destination’s strategy, involving operators, institutions and local communities.
